Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Bylanz (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Bylanz lets you upload financial documents (bank statements, spreadsheets, PDFs, photos of paper statements) or link a bank account via Plaid, and uses an AI model to extract data from those sources and generate standardized balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

This is the most important section of these Terms. Please read it carefully.

Statements, figures, categorizations, financial ratios, debt schedules, and any other output produced by Bylanz ("AI Output") are generated automatically by a third-party large language model based on the documents and data you provide. AI Output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. The model can misread handwriting, misclassify line items, miscalculate totals, hallucinate figures that do not appear in your source documents, or fail to flag errors that are actually present in those documents.

Bylanz is a document-processing tool, not an accountant, auditor, tax advisor, financial advisor, or attorney, and AI Output does not constitute accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and, where appropriate, having a qualified professional review any AI Output before relying on it — including before submitting it to a lender, investor, tax authority, regulator, or any other third party, or using it to make a financial decision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bylanz disclaims all warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI Output, and is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on it.

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

Bylanz offers a free plan with a limited number of AI-generated statements per calendar month, and a paid subscription plan that removes that limit. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis through our payment processor, Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.

New subscribers may be offered a one-time free trial. A payment method is required to start a trial, but you will not be charged until it ends; your subscription then converts automatically to a paid one at the then-current price unless you cancel first. Each email address may use a given trial offer once.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the billing page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period (or, during a trial, before it converts to paid). Except as required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable.

You retain ownership of the documents you upload and the statements Bylanz generates from them ("Your Content"). You grant Bylanz a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content — including to the third-party AI model and other service providers described in our Privacy Policy — solely to provide and improve the Service. You represent that you have the right to upload and share Your Content with us.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to upload content you don't have the right to share;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or disrupt the Service's infrastructure;
• Use the Service to process another person's financial data without their authorization;
• Resell or provide the Service to third parties without our written consent.

The Service relies on third-party providers — including an AI model provider, a bank data aggregator (Plaid), cloud storage and database providers, and a payment processor (Stripe) — to function. Your use of features built on those providers is also subject to their own terms, as described in our Privacy Policy.

THE SERVICE AND ALL AI OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BYLANZ AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON ANY AI OUTPUT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Missouri.
